When we hear about different and unique ways to use Accountability System components, we'll share
them here.
- Each responder has a personal ID Tag where he "Tags In" when arriving on scene. In addition, each
SCBA has an ID Tag which is removed at the point of entry by the "Door Safety" and hooked back on
the SCBA when the firefighter exits the structure. This gives the Door Safety an accurate accounting
of the number of firefighters in the structure.
- A one truck department keeps duplicate tags on a large ring in the truck. When responders arrive
at the scene when they may not have their gear with them, they remove the "spare" tag from the truck
and "Tag In" using it.
- A school field biology class uses our Accountability System to track students on field trips. Students
are issued tags in class. When leaving the bus on tour stops, the tags are handed to the adult
supervisor. When the bus is re-loaded, tags are given back to students. Tags in hand indicate
students off the bus.
- Many departments issue ID Tags to their auxiliary members (usually rehab support groups) to
account for these important volunteers on the fire ground.
- Some departments use our Aluminum Tags to ID their SCBA units. These tags are attached with the
key ring only so they stay on the SCBA.
- One department pop rivets our aluminum tags to their SCBA frames to identify which apparatus the
SCBA belongs to.
